Teddy Bear Shuttles 2-8 Years
Go grab your favorite 5 teddy bears. Place them out across your garden or lounge, depending on child’s age choose appropriate distance. Create a “Home” for the teddy bears with a bottle of water. On your marks, get set…Go! Run and grab one bear and bring it back to “Home”, now go grab the next one. You’re finished when all Bears are Home and you’ve all had some water.
How about making it harder? Perhaps run backwards, sideways, crawl. Or pretend to play a different sport on your way to each bear. Encourage them to drink water and motivate their bears!
Cone Game - 5-18 years
You don’t need cones for this game, just create a box using 4 cones or similar. Number your cones 1-4. The cones can be between 2-6 metres apart. 1 person stands in the middle of the box. Call out a set of numbers between 1-4, start with 3 numbers. The person in the middle must then run to each cone called out and touch it, you must run back to the middle in between each cone.
Make it harder? Call out more numbers, side step to each cone, lay out another box and compete. Or start lying on the floor? Tough!
Animal Laps - 2-8 years
Set out a start & end point, choose an appropriate distance based on child’s age. Then ask your child to choose 5 animals and discuss how these animals move. A snake may sliver on the floor, a monkey swings through trees, a cheetah runs very fast. You ask your child to walk slowly from the start to the end, when you call out an animal they must become that animal and get back to the start as fast as they can moving like that animal.
Make it more interesting? Draw a picture of each animal, show them the animal card you want them to be. No talking!
