Impact update! Momentum 2024

We have just kicked off our Momentum programme for this year and what an exciting time it is!

We are teaching 150 young females how to skateboarding and box, with the aim of increasing physical activity participation once the project ends. Young females have been identified by Active Oxfordshire as the target population due to high inactivity levels. Our research completed in 2022 (youth voice) found that young females have many barriers to participating in sport, such as; location of the club, timings of sessions, fear of judgement, and cost of the club.

Momentum is running in 5 schools across Oxfordshire; The Bicester School, Henry Box School, Greyfriars School, Larkmead School, and Didcot Girls School.

Momentum is in place to build ‘momentum’ in sport engagement among young females, and to increase the likelihood of continuation of engagement following intervention.

We are seeing some amazingly talented individuals. We are helping more females to get active and stay active. But more importantly, we are witnessing individuals realise the true potential of sport for physical, mental and social wellbeing. The project and activities allow the participants to meet new people,
to feel the highs as endorphins are released, to master new skills and become more confident in their abilities. These are some of the many benefits young females will experience throughout this programme.

As we move forwards with the second half of the project, we will continue to see some amazing outcomes and achievements - Let’s keep the ‘momentum’ going! We will keep you all posted!
