Personal Training from the comfort of your own home!
We've taken personal training to the next level and are now bringing it into your home! After recognising the benefits of personal training sessions in the gym, we realised there are many people who cannot come to the gym, but would still love to become more active. There are many people who are fearful or worried about joining a gym. Whether that be because of feelings of anxiety, having a disability, being vulnerable to illness / worried about C-19, or anything else... We see you and we want to help!
Teaming up to offer at-home personal training sessions
The Project PT have teamed up with Active Oxfordshire's MoveTogether programme and Oxford City Council to deliver at-home personal training sessions. The MoveTogether programmes encourages healthier lifestyles. Primarily these are physical, emotional and mental health. Individuals on the programme have access to telephone support. They also can access onward referrals to community activities, signposting, and access to home one to one support. The latter is where TheProjectPT fit in!
Our MoveTogether sessions will be for those who are vulnerable within the local community and in need of someone to support them with physical activity. This could include older people, individuals experiencing health-related issues, those who are socially vulnerable, and many more. All are referred into the programme by sources such as GP surgeries, social prescribers, mental health professionals and other health services. There is also an option to self-refer. Each session is tailored to suit an individual's ability. The sessions will encourage skill development across various types of exercise.
The science of at-home personal training sessions
Studies have shown that even a basic level of flexibility and movement can increase an individual's quality of life. Whether this be because it gives people the ability to move more freely, or carry out daily activities more easily. Just 30 minutes of physical activity everyday can reduce the risk of some serious diseases and improve strength. Recent statistics show that 38.4% of adults are not physically active. This means that they do less than 30 minutes of activity a week. Knowing the benefits physical activity brings, we want to do all we can to decrease this statistic. We also want to have more people moving their bodies!
There are also many mental health benefits too! Endorphins will be released when the body moves. Science proves these endorphins to increase happiness. A boost of confidence and independence can also occur following regular activity. The goal is to empower those who need it most to feel they can take part in regular physical activity on their own!
